Welcome to Walnut Place Retreat located in Historic Valley Junction, West Des Moines, Iowa.

We have renovated a historic home (built in the 1930’s) into a beautiful retreat center with plenty of individual worktables and room space to comfortably accommodate up to 12 overnight guests or 18 day guests at a time.  We can seat 30 guests for office meetings or catalog parties.

¯ Bring your own food to prepare in our newly remodeled, full service kitchen. 

¯ We supply all of the bed linens, towels, & kitchenware including a large crock pot and 48 cup coffee maker.

¯ Check-in and check-out times are set by your group—arrive as early at 6 a.m. on Friday and leave anytime on Sunday!  (Add a Thursday or Monday for $15.)

¯ This is a non-smoking, pet free facility.

¯ Central A/C and heat throughout the house.

¯ We offer on-site, secure wireless Internet and an HP 12x12 color printer for your use.

¯ When you reserve Walnut Place Retreat, you have the entire house for your group!

¯ Outdoor green space provides a beautiful place to take a break.

Conveniently located in Valley Junction, you are only a few blocks away from  “Heirlooms By Design & Outstamping Designs”.  Our local Hy-Vee grocery store is only 19 blocks West. 

Technique classes for scrapbooking, quilting, beading and knitting as well as an on-site massage therapist are also available at an additional fee.

Located on the corner of First & Walnut Sts.  Easily accessible from I-235—take the 63rd Street exit (Des Moines) and follow south approximately 2.1 miles to our corner!

  Please note:

  All reservations placed after January 10, 2009 will    

  require 10 guests for the $10 discount. 

  The booking minimum* will remain at 6 guests or $600.

 

  *Last minute weekends that are posted on the front page 

   do not require 6 guests.

About the taxes we need to collect: 

 

*Overnight rental = 5% Polk County tax + 7% WDM hotel/motel tax

*Daily rental = 6% Polk County tax
